There is an incendiary piece at Slate by Christopher Hitchens accusing Mel Gibson, in no uncertain terms, of being a jew-bashing fascist homophobe.
And while we're on the subject of Jesus...Stephen Prothero, the man responsible for helping me get started in academia and the history of religions, has a feature in Slate on the Passion flick, and a piece in this weekend's NYTImes Magazine. Both are worth reading, and surprisingly, Prothero says he enjoyed the movie. He's also got a brand new book out called American Jesus, and his timing could not have been better. He's a hot ticket in the academy and the media, and word has it he might be coming back to good old Georgia State University.
