february 25--weed, racism, murder

some events of the 25th of February:

2/25/1949 -- Actor Robert Mitchum is released from a Los Angeles County prison farm after serving a 2-month sentence for marijuana possession. I myself don't much care for the skunk weed, but if we were going to vote for coolest white man of the 2oth century, Mitchum might very well get my vote.

2/25/1975 -- Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad dies.

2/25/1994:--Baruch Goldstein, a Brooklyn born zionist and a physician, entered the mosque at the tomb of the patriarchs and opened fire with an automatic weapon on the Muslims praying there. He killed 29 in his attack and was himself killed in the incident. His mother would later say she was very proud of her son, and his gravesite would become a shrine of sorts for his admirers.
