3/26/08: the blogscape

Let's see.

I need to do a little housekeeping.

In blogland I have been working on a couple of things. One is very personal, a blog I started for my sweetie, mostly as a storage house for all the things I was previously emailing her or printing and bringing home for her to read.

So instead we now have: Our Handmade Life.

I had intended it to be just for her but she likes sharing some of the goofy shit I find so it is out there now. It's mostly neuroscience/psychology/therapy/research in a mainstream vein. Things that I find in the course of my reading that would be of interest to her for intellectual and professional reasons.

There are also occasional videos of puppies and such and my periodic professions of fondness for her. She's pretty cool. She occasionally will post something too. I am close to everyone who reads trickgnosis so I am comfortable with y'all being privy to my emasculat...being privy to what passes for my romantic side, such as it is. The title of the blog is from a haiku I wrote for her and is a reference to all the hard work we have done together to make our relationship successful.

The second project is of a very different nature, and this is my second shot at it.

The Iron Dog Review is my foray into the online world of Strength and Conditioning. It is intended for public consumption but will be of interest mostly to a particular subculture of folks. If I can get the content rolling out on a semi-regular basis I will eventually make an effort to publicize it. But not until there's actually something to publicize.

I've had a foot in that world for a long time and figured I ought to try and make use of my years of experience. We'll see how it goes.

I've added feeds to both blogs over to the left underneath all the usual tricky nonsense. Feel free to have a look. I update Handmade much more frequently as I am always finding things of interest to my sweetie. It's more quick and dirty and bloggy than trickgnosis. The dog is updated less frequently for now as I need time to sit down and write and edit the many reviews I've planned.

While I'm talking about blogs I want to point out two that I enjoy and would happily read every day were they updated with such frequency. Both are by readers of trickgnosis: the stalwart Mr. Bunni and his lovely bride Mrs. Bunni.

Bunni: 21st Century Stepdad Man

Mrs. Bunni: Appalachian Feminist Breeder

Bunni's blog is a running chronicle of his new life as a husband and stepdad and it is never less than delightful. My only request would be for more. Mrs. Bunni's blog covers some of the same issues of family life but ranges a little further and wider on occasion. Both are good stuff that you are sure to enjoy.
