genealogical and medical curiosities

Back to work today after spending the holiday in Philadelphia. The week before was something of a nightmare--I worked feverishly (literally at some point I think) to get all of my grading done before the Thanksgiving break. Little sleep and lots of apathetic student writing. It has, however, motivated me to begin planning ahead for next semester; I have a strategy for fixing the problems that plagued me this time around.

The holiday was good. I got to relax and sleep and eat for several days running. I got to spend time with my family. Always strange for me to get a glimpse of my roots; it leads to some curious self-realization.

In Philadelphia I found time to visit the Mutter Museum and its wonderful medical curiosities. I'd been meaning to visit for some time and was happy to finally get around to it. Those who know me will understand my interest with but a quick browsing of the website. Some great stuff--worth a trip if you're ever in Philly.
