It would seem I am a conservative...

A column by George Will, whom a professor once described to me as being "to the right of Genghis Khan," merits reading. I will admit that while I often disagree with Will I often enjoy reading him. This particular column makes a point that I have been whining about for a few weeks now: our current presidential administration is NOT conservative. Its words, and especially its actions, seem to display a blatant disregard for the principles of conservatism. While the hypocrisy of team W on this point is shameful, I am more disturbed by the number of media pundits, self-described conservatives, who are nothing more than noisy watchdogs for the administration, displaying no fealty to any principles whatsoever. Will's column offers a definition of conservative drawn from Alexander Hamilton, and it's an ethos I identify with strongly: "I have thought it my duty to exhibit things as they are, not as they ought to be." I guess that makes me a conservative. But I assure you I will not be voting for the republican candidate in November.
