two anniversaries today: Waco and Oklahoma City. How quickly we, as a culture, forget such things. Apparently the government doesn't worry too much about our home grown terrorists anymore, as this story about a right wing nut in Texas makes painfully clear. The article also unknowingly indicates that those who monitor these groups do not understand the fine points of the right/white nutjob mindset, reporting that "anti-Muslim sentiments that have grown in the country since the Sept. 11 attacks are providing fertile ground for new recruitment efforts."
Those hardcore folks are NOT scared of Muslim terrorists, but believe that they share a common enemy and many of them are admiring and/or jealous of their success. If anything, 9/11 demonstrated that success is possible and served to stir up new hope, hence the upswing in activity.
